On November 25, 2020, the Pharmaceutical Strategy for Europe was adopted. Its goal was to create a lasting regulatory framework e, and to support the industry in promoting research and technologies that actually reach patients.
Strategic objectives

The main goal of the strategy is to provide patients with access to affordable medicines and to address unmet medical needs

It also aims to promote the competitiveness, innovation and sustainability of the EU pharmaceutical industry and to develop safe, effective and more sustainably produced medicines

At the same time, it wants to strengthen the mechanisms needed for rapid response to emergencies, diversifying and guaranteeing security of supply, and addressing drug shortages.
